I will veer away a bit from the purpose of this blog, or rather enhance it by adding recaps and/or reviews of my favorite reality singing contest, The Voice.
Now on its 4th season, the coaches and the contestants are all at their bests. Top-billed by original mentors Adam Levine & Blake Shelton and new coaches Usher and Shakira (who replaced Ceelo Green and Christina Aguilera), the show is lauded for the unique way of selecting contestants. A contestant comes on stage and performs in front of the crowd. Meanwhile, all four (4) coaches have the back of their chairs turned to the contestant and whenever they like a contestant, they just push a button to turn their chairs around. A contestant needs just one (1) chair to turn in order to advance to the next round. In case more than one (1) coach turns around, the contestant will choose his / her mentor. There will be two (2) more rounds --- knock-out and battle rounds --- prior to the finals.

The Top 12 Finalists are as follows:

After the first performance round, Garrett and Vedo were deemed the bottom two based on audience votes and were, thus, eliminated. During last week's 2nd performance rounds, aired just this week on local cable, the standout performance came from Michelle Chamuel of Team Usher. Looking her quirky self, she belted out an emotional cover of Pink's (another favorite artist of mine...) "Just Give Me A Reason".
| Favorite moment: when she squat down precisely on the highest note of the song. It was just crazy and moving. Kudos to Usher and assistant coach Pharrell Williams. They've got a star in their hands. Can't wait to watch next week's Top 8 Performances. Sources: 1. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/voice-recap-four-contestants-are-519684 |
